Wall pulled out to create architectural interest. Wall niches allow microwave to be recessed and keep countertops clean. Shelving provides space for cookbooks and display pieces. Built-in pantries provide most of the storage space. A window seat replaces the old sink under the window.

Island front

Glass pantry doors allow an open feel, but frosted glass keeps contents obscured. Lighting inside would be lovely through the frosted glass at night.

The tile backsplash is the show-stopper. Traditional cabinets are at a minimum in this kitchen. The pantries provide most of the storage. Pot drawers make reaching pots and pans easy. The top drawers actually have two levels, making it easy to get to cooking utensils.
