We started the project with the intention of just rehabbing the existing ell on this early 1800s Cape.
But when we began removing flooring we found that the floor beams were rotted and their was minimal foundation supporting the old structure. So we decided to completely tear down the ell and old garage and start with new footings, foundation and frame.
The new structure is now square and true with plenty of insulation , solid foundation , new doors, windows, kitchen and mudroom.
