The Kohn Residence is a newly constructed single family residence in the Fishtown section of Philadelphia. It marks then end of a row of single-family rowhouses and occurs mid-block, adjacent to a historic stone church that has since been converted into a private residence. The design is derived from this location, and informed by the materiality of the context; drawing from the wood, slate, stone and brick of its surroundings in an effort to create a unique modern expression that is specific to this place.
