Lake City Kitchen

A new kitchen, more room to move, new floors, new lighting and and all-new baseboard & trim for a tired 1920's home.

Before: Dark, cramped and outdated. The goal was to open up the space by removing the wall, and at the same time, add additional cabinet space.

Before: Old, tired and cramped. The decision was also made to add new windows.

Before: The pantry area was not practical, and provided a good spot to relocate the new fridge, along with a narrow pantry and broom closet.

Before: The stairs to the upper bedroom were not code compliant.

Once the wall was removed, the task was to drop the kitchen ceiling down to the height of the living room ceiling. An engineered beam was set in place to support the ceiling joists, which were quarter-turned from the living room.

Removing the wall necessitated resolving the transition from the coved ceiling in the living room, to the flat ceiling of the kitchen.

Rebuilt stairs and code-compliant railing with returns. New flooring and new baseboard & Trim.

Free standing food prep island. All cabinets were custom painted with Sherwin Williams "Window Pane."

All new electrical panel allowed for a ton of new 4-inch LED can lights throughout the house. Strategic areas were put on dimmer switches.
