Lake House

A lake retreat is nestled into an existing stand of cypress and sycamore trees situated along the shores of Lake McQueeney, on the Guadalupe River. The house is organized around a family gathering space, which includes the kitchen, dining room and living area. The space opens on to three porches that provide shade, sheltered cross ventilation, additional activity space, and views across a shaded lawn to the lake. The main house also contains three bedrooms and baths, a sleeping loft located above the kitchen, and utility support spaces. A garage building provides space for parking and equipment storage, and a second floor bunk room, full kitchen, and bath. Site features include lawn space for various outdoor activities, a lakeside patio, and a renovated boathouse with an upper deck for sunbathing and enjoying lake activities.

The main house is elevated on brick piers for flood protection and is constructed with exposed clear stained wood framing, stained cedar shingle siding, and galvanized metal roofs. Site paving has been minimized to preserve the rural character of the site.
