This poorly laid out and dark stock cherry kitchen was transformed into an open floor plan great room with an island, seating for the family, a renewed fireplace, and plenty of storage and workspace.

This poorly laid out and dark stock cherry kitchen was transformed into an open floor plan great room with an island, seating for the family, a renewed fireplace, and plenty of storage and workspace.

The fireplace was a-symmetrical and made of heavy brick with a tall, traditional mantle. The renewed fireplace fits with the open transitional kitchen to create a homey family room and kitchen combination.

The layout in this large space made for a cramped kitchen and seating area, and was closed off to the family room. We took down the fridge wall and closet to make way for a great room.
