MacGuire Bunk House

We created a lovely little guest house for client. The intent was to create a Bunk house that was rustic and sophisticated at the same time. It really was a fusion of this couple, their personalities, their bond, and needs. The work was inspired Bernard Maybeck....we took it from there!!
We had a lot of fun with the eaves on this project. We had 36" overhangs in many places. That type of overhang with the low pitched hip roof made for a very striking "exterior story".

The ceiling treatment gives weight and lightness simultaneously. Note the painted wood ceiling too. We used inexpensive polar for this treatment.

Also of note is the front porch who's geometry is based on a mathematical equation that I have been working out for 20+ years. It's a beautiful curve that can be applied to large and small scales. A secret I might share....
