The medium size floor plan needed to stay in the same footprint, including an immovable large column that houses the building exhaust chase. The solution was to design around the column and move walls just enough to create a feeling of spaciousness for people to move around and still be functional for cooking for a large party. As the owners entertain a lot, they're very happy that their new kitchen allows their guests to gather round without overcrowding, while the hosts offer up cocktails, fine wine, and a tasty meal.
