Malibu Residence

This project was all inspired by the breath-taking view of the Pacific Ocean and I never wanted the design to distract from the gorgeous view. The color pallet was white, gray with hints of blue to compliment the color of the ocean. In the living room, the white, leather sectional had to be custom made because of its large size and the dining room table appears to be floating with acrylic chairs that almost disappear. The custom Pentych (5-piece) artwork was commissioned by the artist Tim LaDuke through Visual Pump in Grand Rapids MI. With this art, I wanted to showcase the view of the nightscape of Santa Monica lights just beyond this wall. The lounge chair and the ottoman both have wonderful wave-like silhouettes, again a reference to the amazing Pacific ocean. Off the master bedroom suite, I created a small sitting/meditation nook with the iconic, Eero Aarnio hanging bubble chair. The walls were padded within this area with a white leather-like material. For the balcony of the master bedroom, I found these 2 great sculptural loungers that point to a vintage white, sculpture by an unknown artist.
