Manhattan Honey Cherry

This cottage in Georgian Bay harmonizes with its surrounding landscape with minimal environmental impact while accommodating the diverse needs of four generation occupants. The consistent palette of cedar soffits and ceiling cladding, window and doorframes seamlessly transition between the interior and exterior spaces. Complementing the cedar is the warm tone and simple lines of the Manhattan Honey Cherry cabinetry. The lower ceiling height above the kitchen nestles the space and anchors the great hall as the ceiling rises and soars above. The dining area with its unique reclaimed hemlock table transitions the kitchen to the great hall and its flanked by the broad kitchen island. The island is perfect for entertaining as it houses a wine fridge, integrated dishwasher and custom sink, while the dovetail mahogany waterfall butcher block top, frames the cherry cabinets as the kitchen itself is framed by the cedar walls and ceiling. On the kitchen's back wall, the focal point is the range and hood. Shifting planes of upper cabinetry create visual interest and draws the eye in. The cooking area is flanked by the strong massing of full depth cabinetry with integrated appliances and is crowned by the line of full depth wall cabinets above.
