The primary goal for the renovation of this traditional side-split was to make the once cramped galley kitchen an integral part of the main living space. The main floor was dramatically transformed by the removal of the interior walls which allowed the existing windows to fill the space with natural light. The kitchen was opened up to the living area and expanded by repurposing the former in-kitchen eating area into a pantry and coffee bar. Existing solid oak hardwood floors were patched seamlessly and refinished throughout. Custom off-white cabinetry, continuous subway tile along the back wall, and floating walnut shelves with inset LED lighting are among the details that make this kitchen a centrepiece for the home.
