Cabbagetown is one of Toronto’s only historic districts. With its heritage designation, we are limited in our ability to change, and preservation of this historic beauty is essential.

Our clients needed more space for their young family and asked about the viability of a rear addition. We brought on our architectural and design partners and planned the space for the family's needs. Older homes generally require more care and attention to rebuild. Our team of carpenters was challenged and excited by the existing conditions. They took excellent care and attention to detail to make this home structurally sound, level, and square for all the new finishes.

The rear addition allowed us to expand the kitchen, add a designated eating area, and create a principal suite. The main floor now includes a foyer with plenty of storage, a formal living room, a powder room, a wet bar and a gourmet kitchen. On the 2nd floor, the old bedrooms were reconfigured, and a designated children's bathroom was created, finally giving the kids their own space.

'The basement was also upgraded to have a rec room, office, laundry and bathroom. Everyone is thrilled with the results and the collaborative approach to completing their forever home.
