Michael Drive Residence
The design for the Michael Drive Residence focused on replanting the front yard while preserving the mature Rhododendrons. Plants were selected to soften the existing patio walls and add color, form, and texture to the yard. The planting included drought-tolerant species. A dry stream bed with small boulders was incorporated into the design, serving as a maintenance path. Stepping stones and additional plantings were added to the western side of the house. The shaded slope area in the backyard was planted with native species such as Sword Ferns, Huckleberry, and Kinnikinnick. Shrub plantings included Kaleidoscope Abelia, Red Sunset Exbury Azalea, Sundance Mexican Mock Orange, Slender Deutzia, Speckled Japanese Fatsia, Frostproof Gardenia, Patty's Purple Boxleaf Hebe, and Endless Summer Hydrangea. Grasses featured Evergold Japanese Sedge, Burgundy Bunny Dwarf Fountain Grass, and Hameln Fountain Grass. Perennials included Quicksilver Wild Ginger, Cast Iron Plant, Jack Frost Siberian Bugloss, Forever Purple Coral Bells, and Crimson Fans Mukdenia.
