This cozy library sitting area completes this mid-century home.

Wall covering: We added an apple red lacquered Maya Romanoff wall covering to the back of the original built-in bookcases to add some interest and bring some color on that side of the room.

Bookcases:The bookcases' bottom doors were flat, so we added a small molding detail, metallic glaze to match the existing hinges and new door pulls to transform them. Now they look as if they could have been part of the cabinets when the house was built.

Artwork: We're pleased to feature this piece by internationally renowned Minneapolis artist Drew Beeson. His piece, Poisonwood, is pictured above the sofa. Another piece featured in the space is a vintage Miles Davis poster the homeowner has owned for some time, waiting to frame it until he found the 'right spot'.

Sofa: The vibrant blue color we chose is also used in the wallpaper in the hallway outside the room. The sofa was custom sized and long enough for the man of the house to lay down and stretch out. Living with three females, we designed this room to have a more masculine feeling - somewhat "Mad Men".
