Mid-Century Modern Renovation

Remodel of house in St. Louis, MO designed in 1968 by Ted Christner, built in 1970. For more pictures and behind the scenes, search #pratttreehouse on instagram.

The previous roof was cedar shingle, we replaced it with a black standing seam metal roof.

The front door is original, the circles in it represent tennis balls, as the previous owner owned a tennis club. We painted it to match our stove. The foyer floor has been parquet, and the staircase was white, but wrapped with green carpet.

I chose a graphic tile and them organized them to be disorganized. We cleaned the planter, which has previously been filled with mulch, and added snake plants, white stone, and decorative glass-blown spheres.

The floors were parquet, tile, wood, and carpet. We put a tiger stripe bamboo throughout the house. The ceiling you see in the hall was previously under 7 feet high. We removed it and raised it.

This was previously a sitting room, we did little work in here, other than adding a light to hang a chandelier.

The dining room and our living room are open to each other. Just to the left is a wall of glass with a sliding door.

Our orange stove from Big Chill is one of the first elements we picked for the house. We knew we wanted that, a metal roof, and tiger stripe bamboo. I added the back splash with the uneven edge so it would have an organic feel.

Our family room connects to the casual dining space and kitchen. It's also on the back wall of the house and has sliding doors wrapping around the corner of the house.

Walking into the master suite you see the fireplace ahead of you, it's open and bright and light.

We created a wet room for the master bath. We totally changed the layout, and added the window. The shower is on the right side behind the tiled wall. Two vanities oppose each other.
