Mission Kansas Farmhouse

This 1904 home in Mission, Kansas, received a second story remodel estimated to be in the 1970s with a low pitched roof and, later on, metal siding and trim.

The challenge was to incorporate a proper facade for the home and neighborhood, and maintain the interior finishes as they had been updated in the last decade.

An over frame of the flat roof with tapered LVL beams allowed us to get the roof line to match the main home

We used a sill detail to break up the siding transition and define the new gable structure

The front porch columns were rebuilt with proper footings, as the existing columns had sunk and fallen out of plumb over the years

We reused the limestone and added in old brick to gain more height for our handrail height. Custom tapered columns were made from PVC for long-term durability.
