This gut renovation of a 2000 square foot two bedroom apartment in a post war apartment building in Manhattan opens the kitchen to become the new social center of the apartment. A new hard ceiling was dropped to allow for recessed LED lighting and a linear LED strip light was installed in the reveal to give the new ceiling a floating appearance. The kitchen appliances are concealed with integrated cabinetry to avoid visual clutter. Greenish-blue soapstone countertops compliment the light blue and light yellow color blocks. An elegant collection of modern art is placed throughout the apartment, including the kitchen, creating a sophisticated environment for entertaining guests.
