The wasted vault space that was blocked by the 8’ acoustical tiled ceiling in the kitchen was reclaimed, and the main support wall was replaced with a series of posts which became a unique design feature integrated into and above the wall of the new pantry. The cantilevered soffit creates a dramatic focal point that ties in with the perimeter soffits. The soffits help to balance the proportions of the high ceiling and provide a method to add layers of light, and visually connect the adjacent spaces.
