A Frankfurt Kitchen-Inspired Remodel in Madison, WI: Modern, Clean and Geometric
Challenge
Our clients in Glenway, WI were in need of a kitchen makeover. Their small existing kitchen was not only dated and lacked functionality, but it also didn’t blend with the architecture of their home. The client desired a modern kitchen remodel inspired by Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky’s Frankfurt kitchen design from the 1920s. Emphasizing clean geometric lines and functionality the Frankfurt kitchen very much embraced German Werkbund principals, focused on good design and craftsmanship.
Solution
A clear vision in mind, Sweeney designed a new bespoke German-style kitchen within the existing space in the client’s home. Keeping with the classic design elements of a Frankfurt kitchen Sweeney, installed simple contemporary custom cabinetry with smart storage elements, as well as a Daltile backsplash. The Moen plumbing fixtures, Karran sink, and Quartz countertop, as well as the Shaw flooring further accentuated the desired functionality and style.
