Modern Vermont Farmhouse

This project has made the cover of New England Home Magazine May 2016, and has published a full-scale featured story. Please visit our website under "Press" on our menu, to see the complete album for this project and learn more about this project. The overall goal of this project was to create a clean simple and functional design that is beautiful, yet relaxing and comfortable for the homeowners and their young family. Since the homeowners extensively travel around the world. They had a great desire to create a living space that was creative with fresh and personal ideas. Something that reflected their diverse travel experiences and their appreciation for good local and international architecture and design. They also l wished for a modern farmhouse and enjoyed industrial design. They desired a simplicity that a Vermont farmhouse deserves. It was equally important for the homeowners that the new design be mindful of green building products and solutions while maximizing the energy efficiency of the entire house.

The homeowners have worked with Mitra Designs Studio Collaborative in the past on the design of their guest house and were very happy with her architectural and Interior Design work and her ability to pull everything together. They asked her to handle their project from the start of the design to the end of construction. Based on their past experience, the homeowners hired Mitra again to take complete responsibility of creating all designs for both the architecture and the Interior Design of the project. This was yet another start to finish collaborative work with the homeowners and a very exciting project for Mitra; a design work that started from creating the initial design concepts with floor plan and 3-D renderings to developing a full set of drawings with architectural and interiors design details and specifications for construction use. Additionally, Mitra was also responsible to coordinate all aspects of design with the builder, including coordinating with the vendors and artisans involved in this project, which also included project observation during construction; attending weekly site visits and meeting with builder and subs, responding to field related questions during construction and to observe and ensure that the construction is in keeping with the design intent. As part of this work, Mitra was also hired by the homeowners to take charge of Interior Design of the project.
