Navigating an awkward bathroom layout

Project Summary:
Sometimes the odd shape of a bathroom can make you feel like there’s nothing you can do to make it any better. That was certainly the case with this Devine Bath remodel. Our clients felt stuck in their bathroom’s jolted floorplan and were looking to update the aesthetic, with little hope of improving its layout. But where there's a will, there’s a way! We helped this Portland couple turn their oddly-shaped bathroom into a unique, practical and beautiful oasis.

Challenges:
The biggest challenge with this remodel was creating a layout that felt natural and intentional within the confines of this oddly shaped room. For starters, we tossed the tub — our clients never used it and it was taking up a huge chunk of valuable floor space. Then, we traded in the his-and-hers double vanity for two single vanities on opposite walls, complete with a three-quarter mirror and beauty corner. We moved the awkward corner shower to where the bathtub used to be, creating an open, spacious shower for our clients. The results made for a bathroom that felt open, unique, and thoughtfully planned out.

Results:
Beyond the physical changes in this bathroom layout, we made some serious upgrades to its dated aesthetic. The grey porcelain wood-look tile added a modern feel, and the curbless glass shower allowed us to run the floor tile right through without any transition. We traded in all the lights for newer LED fixtures, and added some luxurious touches such as a custom tile inlay in the shower, underfloor heating and a programmable heated towel bar. The results speak for themselves, check out the before and after pictures below!
