New Open Floorplan in Bel Air

This project was especially fun for me because it was my parents kitchen, not many people get the opportunity to remodel their childhood home so I wanted to make sure my parents got everything they wanted out of it. My mom has dreamed of an island for as long as I can remember so that was goal number one. To achieve that the wall between the kitchen and living room needed to be taken down, it was load bearing and there was major duct work in it but the outcome was well worth the expense. I added in many storage options for them including a two tiered silverware drawer, pull out double trash cans, pot and pan roll outs and a large pantry. The overall style they wanted was traditional and warm, to blend with the rest of the house so we went with a warm ginger tone for the perimeter cabinetry with a green island to create some contrast. The countertops on the perimeter, Cambria Praa Sands have some green in them as well to play off the island while the island top, Torquay, brings a nice peaceful balance to the middle of the space. The stone backsplash brings in some texture and ties it all together. They now have their dream entertaining kitchen that flows great with the surrounding rooms.
