Observatory Renovation
This renovation of a 1920's home near the Naval Observatory consisted of updating an attic bath, master suite, second bathroom on the second floor, a small hidden desk area, powder room and a complete redo of the kitchen. The major portion of this project was reworking the second floor to reconfigure the three bedroom, two bath layout into a master suite and a second bedroom with on-suite. The original master bedroom which had an out dated on-suite and small closets was turned into the second bedroom with a classically style bathroom. Then the remaining two bedrooms and bathroom were transformed into the new master suite. After borrowing space from the old master bathroom the new master bathroom was designed with an enclosed W/C, large frameless glass shower, freestanding tub and a double vanity. One of the bedrooms was turned into the master closet and space was giving to make a small second floor laundry closet off the hall. Once these areas and the attic bathroom were complete work began on the kitchen, desk area and powder room. The kitchen was updated from a traditional framed and molded antique door to Poggenpohl frameless flat-panel high gloss white and teak décor quartz. With the second row of upper cabinets and corner solutions the small space has ample storage. Overall the mission of the project was to maintain the character of the 1920's home whilst add modern appeal.
