Oceanside Summer Retreat
For an oceanside summer house, Michael Whaley worked closely with the architect to renovate a 19th century Queen Anne style home to meet the needs of a discerning long-time client. After years of neglect, Whaley recreated the charm of the past by adding a sense of history and tradition. This was acheived by incorporating antique gas light fixtures from England, William Morris hand blocked wallpaper, heart pine flooring, Delft fire place tiles, and antique mantels into the scope of the project. Traditonal design features include overstuffed custom upholstery, printed linen fabrics, fringes, collections of antique porcelains and accessories and elaborate curtains. These elements imbue this home with a sense of history from generations past.
