Set on a beautiful wooded hillside overlooking an expansive lake, this home’s owners were seeking a simple pool and play space set within a minimally invasive, naturalized landscape, utilizing much of the site’s pre-existing planting beds and previously impacted areas. Additionally, circulation amongst the various buildings was of great concern. The site’s soils and proximity to the lake provided many engineering challenges, but was successfully executed through a comprehensive construction strategy. The landscape achieves the goals of supporting local ecologies, including a water garden, bees, birds, and migratory butterflies. An extensive stormwater management system was designed and installed to handle the inundation from the surrounding properties.
