There probably aren’t many homes like this in Oregon but it really is an impressive creation and a west coast twist on a classical architectural form. The coffered and groined ceilings are there, intricate millwork detailing, a grand staircase with wrought iron railings and a certain grandeur to the scale of the rooms. The exposed wood trusses over the indoor pool are reminiscent of more rustic architecture. As window and door nerds, we see the double French doors with transoms as transitional in design – the one over four lites in the doors with their horizontal proportions are a simpler aesthetic than the traditional “Golden Rectangle” vertical lite in the one third by two third proportions. The transoms reflect a more classical design with a hub and spoke pattern. And it all comes together with that mid-tone stain grade finish on Mahogany – a lighter tone than you’d normally expect to see on Mahogany.
