We purchased our forth house, a 1960s split entry, in June 2014. We redesigned and remodeled the main floor of the house to accommodate a modern family's needs and desire for a home. The kitchen and the bathroom were in desperate need of an overhaul. For the kitchen, we used classic shaker style cabinets with off white color for the main part and a honey brown color for the island creating an airy and bright yet warm kitchen. We used oli-rubbed bronze hardware for door knobs and handles.
We chose warm neutral color pallet throughout the entire home to achieve a classic and timeless design for our place. I would consider the design style of this home to be "Transitional". We modernized the place through the use of clean lines but at the same time we kept the character of the house by refinishing some pieces that were original to the house. We also added some pieces of furniture with a deep sense of history to blend the warmth of traditional design with the clean cut look of contemporary style.
The renovation lasted three and a half months.
