This client had dreams of an area he used to visit as a child. Vast forests and abandoned barns and farms. He described it as one of the most beautiful walks he had taken in his life. This client had also had other designers work on this design and with both him and his wife being engineers everything had to make sense from every angle. Quickly we came up with a theme and took all challenges head on. In the end the ended up with what a close neighbour described as an "incredible" and "that she truly felt she was camping." This brought it all home for the clients which ultimately satisfied everything he had dreamed of. With two cabana's clad in rough cedar and a replicated real antique brick façade the look was brought together. Due to budget we chose rough cedar over reclaimed timber so that over time the look that the customer requested would be realized. Planting were picked to not take over the backyard but make it inviting and add to the idea of being "away from home" when you moved through the backyard to the stone fire pit and passed the waterfall that when sitting on the bench in the pool falls over your head, neck and back. The flagstone and stone were picked to replicate the stone shield you often see when hiking into many forested areas. All together as another neighbour told us. "Something special is going on here"
