Overland Park Attic Conversion

One of the services I offer is space planning along with design. This is a great example of just that. The homeowners had a unique space with one bedroom upstairs which was serving as the guest room with the kids' bedrooms downstairs in "the basement" - a nice one with walkout. Mom was never comfortable with the kids being downstairs and one of the kids is at an age and had trouble sleeping alone in their bedroom. We took a large, unused, attic space upstairs and transformed it into, most importantly, a second bedroom to move both kids upstairs, a second and kids' laundry area, full bath and awesome closet with custom cabinetry adding additional storage. Adding roughly 500 square feet to the home, we maximized the space and made everyone happy in the process- kids sleeping better and REALLY excited about their new spaces, parents happy with a second and better laundry area than the original and overall improvement to home value as it is more in line with the demographic needs and desires of potential future buyers (not that they are selling anytime soon). Charming closet with built-ins and full bath is over garage minimizing noise, bedroom is a nice open space with built-in shelving, vanity/desk and linen closet (which was lost in the remodel), narrow, windowless laundry with full size washer/dryer with amazing work spaces, is light and bright and spacious due to utilizing barn doors that open into the hallway. Storage is excellent as we used every square inch. Made the corners work for them! Even an outlet in the cabinet to charge a mini-vacuum and usb charging outlet for kids to charge their devices outside their rooms while snoozing was included. Details, details...the quality and success of the final product is in large part due to the quality of the design process - the thought process behind the design.
