Built in 1982 this grand custom home set in the private gated community of Paramount Ranch was a curious amalgam of English Tudor meets Swiss Chalet. Set on a 5 private acres with views of the Santa Monica Mountains we chose to embrace an updated California Ranch aesthetic that would feel naturally at home in its surroundings. We chose to remove most of the heavy oak woodwork and dark built-ins to lighten things up and the paneling and beams that were left were painted and re-stained. The home also received a complete new window and door package as well a total remodel of the kitchen, wet bar and all baths. The colossal river stone fireplace in the family room was retained but had a heavy overmantel removed that hid much of its impressive stonework. The parquet wood floors were also retained and refinished!
