Paverdeck / TileDeck combo

For this project, a combination of Paverdeck and TileDeck was used. Paverdeck was an excellent choice for the lower deck, as it needed to be partially in-ground. While the TileDeck worked perfectly for the elevated upper deck. Both systems will last a lifetime and will not be affected by any freeze-thaw cycles.

Mechanical screw piles are installed to provide a solid foundation for the TileDeck.

Due to the topography of the back yare, the Paverdeck will be on grade at one end, while the other will be approximately 16" above grade. Using Paverdeck means we can have the structure sitting inground where needed.

In this case, due to the fact, the soil conditions are sand, there are no concerns about floating this structure. Appropriate concrete blocks are set in to act as footings.

An iron lintel is secured to the foundation of the house and a wood beam is created and secured on top of the screw piles.

Wood framing is completed and Joist Guard Tape is added for an extra level of protection.

Wood framing is added to the surround of the TileDeck structure to support the side cladding materials.

Cement board is added to the perimeter of the structure to allow for the side cladding of stone.

For this particular job, a stucco parging was used for the sides of the TileDeck.

You can see the side cladding is completed and the row of caps stones are in place. GeoTextile is put down to hold in the polymeric sand.

Stone laid and polymeric sand swept in on both the Paverdeck and TileDeck.

Stairs are added to transition from the lower Paverdeck to TileDeck. Stairs can easily be constructed using either Paverdeck materials or wood framing and TileDeck. Visit stonedeck.ca for more information on this process.
