The Valerie Fund presents Grace’s House, a designer showhouse restoration of an historic mansion in Plainfield, NJ that will benefit children in New Jersey battling cancer and blood disorders.

“When I learned about what Grace has endured and how much The Valerie Fund has helped her through a horrifically difficult time, I knew I had to participate. Her and her family’s commitment to bringing awareness to the cause is very inspiring,” says Ramchandani. “Children's illnesses are, to me, the most awful battles and their fight needs the most support from the community. Since design is my talent, it’s the most direct way I’m able to support the organizations I feel strongly about and give back in the most effective way I can.”

Originally deemed a master suite, Tina calls her space The Parlor, and describes it as a lounge space used best for entertaining. As she describes, “upon first walking into the room, I knew it was special and after all Grace's family has been through, I wanted to create an environment for the family to enjoy each other's company. I envisioned an enveloping space with character that would be great for entertaining, where friends and family felt comfortable to withdraw after a long day, enjoy a cocktail, and chat the night away. My signature look is Soulful MinimalismTM which tends to have a masculine edge, so I loved the idea of a his and hers parlor, something with a lounge feel and juxtaposing elements. My goal was to create one vibrant, rich space, that illustrations cohesion upon first look, yet celebrates how a handsome, modern aesthetic can pair well with softer pieces, to create a harmonious environment that works well for both genders to enjoy and relax in at the same time. As a designer, I understand that furniture choice and placement play a huge role in how people will experience a space, so I physically split the room by integrating a custom daybed in the middle, representing both genders equally. Since many of my clients ask me to find a middle ground that captures the lifestyles of both husband and wife, or a couple with differing personalities and interests, the custom daybed acts as a bridge piece, and depending on which side you’re sitting on, provides two contrasting viewing experiences.”
