Client was not impressed with her dingy, lifeless mudroom that just became a through-fare for the family. It's a small space but when you don't have the room to go out, then go up! Always use vertical space when you don't have a lot of real estate to work with (and working with your existing footprint).

The flooring was taken to the next level by selecting beautiful black and white cement tile. To save some money, no demo was done but rather we laid the new cement tile over the existing floor tile. The tile-setter ground down any uneven spots and grout of the existing tile before laying down tile adhesive to create a smooth, level space for him to set the new tile. As you can see, it looks gorgeous and adds so much contrast to the space!

We had our carpenter build a built-in "mudroom" we designed that went all the way up to the ceiling, using every bit of vertical space we had. The bottom portion of the built-in was to be used for shoe storage, then we had to the bench so people could sit while putting there shoes on (we eventually added a custom bench cushion for extra comfort), charcoal color shiplap was incorporated to tie in with the black in the tile and black hooks were installed for hanging, bags, backpacks, hats, etc. and lastly, top adjustable shelves were included to store decorative baskets that contained items that weren't used on a daily basis.

We also added fresh paint to the walls and door leading to the garage and new door hardware. This transformed mudroom is proof that tiny can absolutely be might! We love it!
