Project Muskoka

Project Muskoka is a stunning cottage perched on the side of Lake Muskoka. This summer home embodies all of the beauty the surrounding nature has to offer with an elegant and feminine flair. This home was designed to comfortably host family members and friends of all ages. A fabulous project all the way through.

This here is the view looking into the living room and out onto the lake. We wanted to incorporate a gentle statement piece to hang in this very tall open area. This beautiful cluster of neutral prints flowed seamlessly into the design.

Here is a closer look at the book-matched slab fireplace. All of the neutral colours seen within the stone allow this very modern piece to take on a more natural feel.

On the opposite side, sits a more casual family room for everyone to cozy up in.

Let us spin you around... here is the family room on the other side of the fireplace. we’ve continued on with the soft and serene but, this time I’ve sprinkled it with a hit of blush.

This custom-designed wine cellar was created as a focal point in the room. The barn board tires this feature into all of the natural elements that surround it.

Sneak around the corner, just past the wine cellar, you will find the cozy Den. Day to day it is set up as a little reading nook, slash a place for the grandkids to sneak away and watch a movie. The daybed folds out into a double bed in case they have extra guests.

This cottage dining table just right of the kitchen at doesn’t serve up your regular old hot dogs and burgers. At this table, you will find freshly caught pickerel, smoked trout pate, butternut squash, and ginger soup, and raspberries lovingly dipped in homemade chocolate sauce.

This second-floor main bathroom was created with texture in mind, because of such a neutral colour scheme, the texture was our go-to, to add interest and depth to the space.

This guest room has the perfect amount of space for 2 guests to call their home away from home during their stay at this cottage oasis. Keeping it light, bright and airy was the goal when designing this bedroom.

When designing a space, we want there to be special little elements that are specific to that particular project. On the other side of the bedroom, sits these beautiful vintage bathing suit prints that are made from maps of the lake this cottage is situated on.

Walking down the hall, next room on the right, and you have arrived at the upper master bedroom at #projectMBDmuskoka ... I carried through a greyish/purple hue through the fabrics, bedding, and rug. The bed faces a massive window and you feel like you are waking up right on the lake.

Continuing with the living room, This space offers sheltered seating from outside. The fabric ottomans offer extra seating for the kids or a great place to kick your feet up for one of those blissful summer afternoon naps.

we kept the colour scheme neutral but welcomed pops of navy to create that nautical cottage feel.

To tie this bathroom in with the rest of the boathouse, we continued the splash of nautical navy and modern black beach stripe in this space.
