By far our favorite cabinet refinishing project. Our client wanted to match a Restoration Hardware piece they had bought recently but make it a little less distressed. We started by sanding the existing finish, heavily sanding the corners so we could apply a coat of stain. We then applied the primer coat and off white lacquer top coats. We sanded the corners back to the stain finish then applied a clear coat. Once dry we applied a gray glaze to the whole door. Lastly we applied two clear coats to seal the surfaces. With the built ins we removed the vertical divider and scrolls. We installed a custom stained ship lap with a white glaze to the back and sides of the built in. We removed the existing mantel and replaced it was a stain grade oak wood to match the ship lap. We applied the white glaze to this as well. Lastly, we finished the built ins and the rest of the mantel to match the kitchen cabinets. Walls are painted the walls with Sherwin Williams Duration Home interior paint, colors are Agreeable Gray in the living room and Anew Gray in the kitchen.
