Notice the inner boxes are shallower in depth than the main beam boxes, to allow the trim to finish properly. All figured in the rough framing of the plywood boxes. Here is another example of the butt block construction of the plywood box beam.

Wiring in place for recess lighting.Inner boxes cladded with trim. Notice the screws in the plywood. this is known as a butt joint with butt blocking on the inside, similar to wooden boat planking butt joints. This lets me build the long beam on the ground and install as a one piece beam box.

Bamboo came in rolls and I contact cemented the bamboo to 1/4 " plywood, making it easier to precut and install overhead. I left a 1" space around the bamboo sub straight for easy fitting and and movement needed. The crown molding covered the 1" space, and I think it yielded better with little...

This is were the main focal point all tie together . The main panel was built on the bench as well. The soffit is also stepped out to add depth and also not look skimpy in relation to the cement mantle.
