Reclaimed Wood Dining Tables

Dining tables are one of our favorite pieces of furniture to build. A well constructed table promises many years of enjoyment, shared meals and conversation.

Our standard offering is a farm table with a top constructed from 1 inch thick reclaimed wood planks. At the preference of our clients, table legs can be constructed affixed to the table base, or can be removable for easy breakdown/shipping.
This table was constructed from salvaged materials. The cherry boards were found in an old creekside sawmill and are at least 70 years old. The oak lumber for the table base was salvaged from the deconstruction of old houses in southern West Virginia.

This farm style dining table is made from wormy American Chestnut lumber. It was made to seat 8 people comfortably. It is finished with multiple coats of oil modified polyurethane.

Small Dining Table - Reclaimed Tulip Poplar Top and Hemlock Base - Products
This small table was donated to a silent auction. Reclaimed tulip poplar planks were used for the table top. Tulip poplar heartwood often has streaks of interesting green, browns and even purple.

Wormy American Chestnut Dining Table with Steel Base
This entire table top was constructed from a single 20" wide weathered tulip poplar plank, which was cut in half then glued together. The table base is built from reclaimed oak lumber.

This small dining table was custom built to fit into a kitchen nook. The red oak planks used for the table top have a beautiful blonde color tone. They were once wall boards in an old house. We have lots more of these to use for tables if you are interested!

This oak table top was made for a trestle style table. We used a pigmented pore filler to enhance the wood grain.
Oak Table Top
We used a penetrating oil finish for this farm table. The protection is slightly less than with a clear coat, but the wood looks and feels very real and authentic. We re-sawed a distressed beam to get the four table legs.
Wormy American Chestnut Farm Table
This small table was custom sized to fit a kitchen nook. Breadboard ends were added to this table top. The legs were tapered slightly and there is a subtle arch in the table apron.
Small Black Walnut and American Chestnut Dining Table
This large dining table was custom built to our clients' specifications. The table top measures 60" x 60". The table was constructed from reclaimed hemlock lumber, which has developed a dark red patina with age.

Tulip poplar heartwood can have a wide range of colors present. I've seen greens, browns and even purple hues. This was a very interesting table top.

This table top was made from what used to be floorboards in a very old house. They were held down with square cut nails.

Looking at the board ends on this table top, you can really see how tightly grained this oak is. Tight grained lumber comes from very old trees and translates into more complex and interesting patterns on the wood grain.

Applying the first coat of finish is always a gratifying step in the woodworking process. After all of the work, you finally get a glimpse of the finished look of the piece.

This huge dining table top was built to cover an elaborate wrought iron base. At 60" wide and 9 feet long, it was a lot to handle. There are 33 individual pieces of wood pieced together to form this table top!
