Several years ago, on a flat and empty lot in Oakville overlooking Lake Ontario, the designers of Barnard Speziale and building specialists assembled. They took stock of the surroundings, met the rest of the team and for the following two years worked continually on creating what would be the talk of the town, and to one particular couple, a dream realized.

The mandate for this project was to create a luxurious, opulent and unique look that continually required detail, detail, detail! This 16,000sq ft. home boasts all of the modern technologies and conveniences of today, but at the request of the home owner are enveloped in traditional elements. A European sensibility was the inspiration for much of the design.

Alison Knapp, along with Associate Designer Karen Shearim designed custom area rugs, an entry hall constructed floor to ceiling in limestone block, gold infused tile in the master ensuite, a wine cellar with a pea gravel trough, custom carved fireplaces, metal appliqués installed on a patterned wall paper, intricate tile patterns, etc. A seamless blending of the interior and exterior through the use of the colour palette contributes to much of the success of this interior.
