Reinventing the Classics

This beautiful library space was redesigned to accommodate a complex program: performances on a gorgeous Steinway piano, study space for the kids, entertaining space for the adults, and a space for the whole family to cuddle up with a good book. Fundamentally neutral and simply elegant. This space features a carefully controlled color palette that is subtle and relaxing--perfect for studying the classics.

A luminous grass-cloth was used to to line the backs of the bookshelves and inset wall panels. Additional lighting and soft fabrics brighten the space, while adding coordinating patterns for a cohesive theme.

These light-weight hand-carved stools are upholstered in a rich, shimmering animal print that offers the space a bit of whimsy while providing guests some additional seating during concert time.

Based off of the motif found in the draperies, this scalloped ottoman pulls all the major upholstery fabrics together in one beautiful piece. On a day to day basis, it nest under the piano, but comes out to serve for additional seating during piano concerts and family gatherings.

The dark television cabinet is no more! Cherry blossoms and gorgeous white roses herald the spring and add an extra layer of depth and interest to the new bar area.

A gorgeous cut-crystal cordial set and some fresh flowers sit on a beautiful mirrored tray. Just above, you can see the light catching the etched mirror and the grass-cloth used to line the walls.
