Restored Elegance

This is a design story that reads like a novel--it has divorce, new love, fire, devastation and resurrection. We began this project after a long-time client lost their new home to a devastating fire. Luckily our client, his new wife and family, all got out of the house safely! We helped to sift through the ashes to salvage what we could, saving a few pieces of furniture, which we reworked, and some important pieces of art, which we had restored. Working closely with the architect Reagan Miller we create a personal, family-oriented home for very private people. The look is fresh and less formal than their previous residence. Rooms flow into each other through beautiful architectural openings, and views of the surroundings keep the house in touch with nature. This project was more than creating a home; it was the restoration of a family. When they moved in, after all the turmoil they had been through, it was like they were a family at home again. It was important to put their home back together, and it was a joy to help them do it.
