The table has a quarter inch glass surface to facilitate cleaning with would have been problematic given the rough cut texture of natural pine. Special glides were selected to prevent damage to the floor.

The construction is very heavy duty. The eight foot length of the benches required particular attention since any center span support would have been inconsistent with the design.

The rough resawn texture of the pine is difficult to discern in the photos. However it is of interest to note that the natural appearance of the resawn timber would be spoiled by the smoothing effect of any sanding whatsoever. Rough does not mean sloppy. Once again note the bookmatch.

The interior details emphasize the integrity of the construction. Note the broad annual rings of the old growth pine.
