Rustic Woodshed
This small building was designed to give the illusion of a small cottage or potting shed, but it is actually two spaces masquerading as one. The previous outbuilding had deteriorated and needed to be replaced. The existing foundation was all that was left. The new structure needed to reuse the same foundation, but because of its proximity to the house and the fact that it is visible from the living room it needed to have a visual appeal. We salvaged a door and some windows from the owners of an old house that was being torn down and sided the building with shingles left over from a previous project. I worked with the existing foundation to build a pumphouse visible from the front of the house with a concealed woodshed to the left. The back of the building has hooks for tools that are in constant use, while the right side of the building has the compost bin. The result is a beautiful and highly functional outbuilding that adds charm to the property.
