We wanted to plant front yard with California native plants. Considered height to hide street traffic from picture window and specify plants with similar water usage. We needed to replace a cinder block retaining wall that had seen it's last days. We were going to replace with more blocks to keep cost down but the back fill behind old wall was filled with La Crescenta granite rocks. Changed the plan to include the beautiful rock walls the team built. All is on drip irrigation.
