This Seattle couple hoped to upgrade from their small bedroom to a Master BR / Master Bath combo, but lacked the area in their main home. Going above the existing garage seemed like the best idea.

We had to structurally upgrade the foundation, interior beams and shear walls to accommodate the new loads.

All things considered, the design worked out well, keeping true to the original shingle style home. A new 5 piece bath as well as new views now compliment the new second story.
