Deer had decimated all but the upper limbs of this old rhododendron grove. Fencing was installed then gradually over the course of a couple of years understory trees, shrubs and perennials were planted to create a lush textural backyard paradise for this avid gardener. Later, a shady perennial border was added to the front foundation hedge and a grass garden now graces the walk to the mailbox.
