Shangrila - Marin County, CA

A 1958 Bungalow that had been left for ruin—the perfect project for my husband and I. We updated only what was needed while revitalizing many of the home's mid-century elements. This project was truly a labor of love. The house blends the perfect mixture of mid-century architecture and furniture choices, with contemporary art.

Hugo guards the entry to the back yard. Guests can either enter the back yard through the gates concealed entrance, or turn right and walk down the paved path to the front door.

This space is perfect for entertaining! When the owners originally moved in, this deck was not here. There were several steps down from the kitchen door, and the stone slabs were a toe-stubbing minefield.

The back yard was originally all concrete slaps with no grass. It was a toe-stubbing minefield. We removed all the broken slabs and rearranged the good ones to create lounging and dining areas, then added grass to create a beautiful outdoor oasis.
