Short hang and shelf combination units put more shoes where you can see and access them. They also eliminate the need for so much high hanging so there is less reaching. It's all about common sense and ergonomics.

Sometimes you just need Cubbies to help you get and stay organized. The worth of a closet is in the function it provides. It was a nice use only 4 inches behind the door.
