This kitchen was originally very bland in old peach and white days of the late 80's early 90's. They wanted a space for a desk and seating at the island. We worked through a few different ideas until we settled on this one. They really liked the concrete countertops with the integrated sink, the under cabinet lighting, and the built-in microwave. The butcher block as the lower island working space was also a great feature for preparing meals.
