Simple Yet Impressive Small Modern Wine Cellar in a Hallway

If you have a small space in your home that you want to convert into a small, modern wine cellar, you can get some fantastic ideas from this project. Our team was able to build a stunning wine closet that could house 160-bottles within a home’s hallway, and it’s made of glass!

Who would think a high-capacity wine closet could fit into a narrow hallway? We do! Using modern approaches and years of expertise in building residential and commercial wine cellars, we created a fully-functional wine closet that would definitely last for years.

The home we built this wine cellar in had quite a modern, luxurious interior, and so we wanted the wine cellar to exude that as well. We could see that the owners preferred clean designs, so we opted to use a frameless glass door for the closet. Since the hallway was relatively small, we thought it best to display the wine collection only on one side and used three (3) – deep metal pegs so it could house more bottles without the owners incurring additional racking costs.

A wine peg racking system is a highly practical solution for wine cellar owners because you won’t have to spend on additional labor and racking materials just to hold more wines. Moreover, they aren’t bulky, so they don’t take attention away from the wine collection itself.

To keep the bottles cool, we used a split-type wine cooling unit and mounted the evaporator on the ceiling. Placing the evaporator on or near the ceiling is highly recommended since it can quickly cool any warm air that accumulates on the ceiling. The A/C on the ceiling also gives better air circulation inside the cellar, so you’re confident that the bottles are cooled evenly.

Lastly, to complete the look, we installed LED lights around the back panel where the metal pegs are attached. We ran the light on all sides of the rear panel, making the wine cellar look stunningly lit at the end of the hallway.
