This client had another company create their upper and lower patio. They came to us to make some adjustment and fixes as the ground under the upper patio was washing away. They wanted planting that would help hold up the hill. They also wanted a very low maintenance but beautiful hillside.
We decided to go with all very low maintenance planting that would help hold up the hillside like manzanita and other creeping plants. Trees were also added to create privacy and shade on this hillside. We used boulders on either side of the upper patio and along the bottom to create a naturalistic retaining wall. With some initial weeding and maintenance to keep the native grass away, the plantings will eventually fill in and choke out weeds.
